Ther's gooooooooooooooooold in this her' mines!
Ther's braaaaaaaaaaaaaaains in these her' vats!

I'm about to take a test for a TSO job. I'm going to practice my interviewing skills, as this could be a life-changing job.

TSO?
An airport security officer for Homeland Security. It looks like I'd be the guy who wands people, checks x-rays of your luggage, and pats people down. The pay is triple what I'm used to, and I could move up the government job ladder.

What airport? I'll let you strip search me any day.

Okay, so, today this girl I know-Lauren, just took a sudden dis-interest in talking to me. Is she just on her period or something?

Well Grakelin, I'll pat you down any day, but I'll have to pat down the ladies off-hours.

I took the test, and I'll know the results in a week. If I fail I can take it again, and that's about all I can say about that.

I'm worried that my anxiety is going to prevent me from getting this job. Everything else is clear to go but that. I even get the 'been to 8 other countries' customs' bonus. If the interview is as nerve-wracking as this simple computer test, I'll appear incompetent. It feels like it's purely physical, as I'm not too worried myself about the interview.

Scott Westerfeld is awesome. He wrote a book about WW1 that involved all Britain and friends having genetically altered war animals, and Germany and those guys having giant war mecha. He wrote a book about vampires, and after reading up one bats and parisites concluded that any vampire novel must involve "natural selection, sexual attraction< parasitic infection, and Elvis memorabilia."

His new book is coming out in a month, and i'm preordering that son of a bitch.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

He posted that in his blog. His professional blog.
