Sigged for constant reminder.

You dig the software and I dig the hardware, unless Computer Engineering do hardware too-I don't know.

As far as I can tell its a Hybrid major between EE and CS, which sounds pretty cool. Although my Uncle(has been in various IT jobs for years) has expressed doubts of the degree's usefulness.

Well, 8 (CR 6) mind flayers is CR 12. So, possibly survivable if they were mostly level 9, but I wouldn't bet on it.

That is assuming that they had a 4 person party. if it was around six I would put it around merely hard and most like the only encounter for that day.

Also obviously it depends on how optimized they were.

True. But while the team may have survived, there's no way Jack Bread got out of there without losing some major chunks of his brain.

True, I do not know how capable he is but with a LA of 5 I do find it unlikely he got out of a hurting there.

But then, life was also easier when I was running around here pretending to be a man, so I guess I should just "man up" and get back to work.

I sometimes do that too.
It can get a little annoying, but ultimately isn't that bad.
