I actually got the whole final take-off of Atlantis on video and a couple decent shots. I also got enough shots to make a decent panorama to maybe use for a background or something.
I might post them up in due time.
It wasn't as spectacular as the dawn/dusk/nightime launches, but it was still nice to watch. Somehow the shockwave wasn't so powerful this time around.
I hope they haul it back with a 747-100 again as a final showing/farewell to the space shuttle. Plus, I want to be able to take a picture of that since I missed out on getting a picture last time. The sight was awesome, but having a picture (and having been told about it beforehand) would've been much better.
EDIT:
And because I love y'all, here's a pic of the aftermath of the final take-off (I recorded the take-off as a video, so no pics of those).
I might consider uploading the take-off clip as part of my livestream demo-loop. Not bad quality. 640x480 resolution.
EDIT EDIT:
Upload in progress. I'll update my livestream soon enough. (Done Uploading... Uh... I don't see it on the list. Reuploading. Maybe I screwed up somewhere.)
EDIT EDIT EDIT:
Turns out it did upload. It just needed to be processed.
I'm going to broadcast it for a moment. Check it out if you want. Broadcast will beigin in 5 minutes. Here's the footage itself, don't wait up. I might as well leave it for On-Demand anyway.
Believe it or not, it's much harder than it sounds to track a shuttle at full zoom with a pocket camera. I say my footage is rather decent for what it's worth. I only lost track of it after it disengaged it's booster rockets.
