I was playing Silent Hunter 3, and was on like my fourth patrol with no kills.  We finally came across a convoy at night.  I somehow managed to get myself right in the middle of it and sink a Granville Freighter.  I was glad to know I had finally figured out targeting with torpedoes.  Anyway, the destroyer escorts had me zeroed in, so I dove to around 40 and went at flanking speed hoping to slip under the nearest cargo ship and out of danger.

Didn't work. 

Apparently cargo ships have depth charges or something, because next thing I knew people were yelling about depth charges.  There were some explosions and the ship rocked like crazy.   We took severe hull damage and starting sinking rapidly, so I got as many guys as I could fit on the repair team trying to fix the breaches.

Didn't work.

I finally submitted to my fate and sat in the command room, taking one last look at my men and hearing the hull of my ship groaning and straining under the pressure.

Godspeed, loyal sailors.

Also I've been playing silent hunter IV sometimes... Today... I came upon this Japanese task force... Got close.. suddenly PING PING PING, said fuck it, had a good enough solution, fired 4 torps. Direct hit, I Sunk the biggest ship in their fleet a Heavy Cruiser, then a CL came around at me and I threw my rear torps at it, sinking it.

Then I got depth charged to hell and because I was in shallow water... glub glub glub... Died with like 50k tonnage for the whole career, (20k from that CA and CL)
