Ooh, learn how to do linear programming, Solifuge! That's the start of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, and should add a lot of value
Nope. Not gonna. It sounds cold and uncaring, like that terrible, hellish mathematics. I'm mostly doing it because it's a challenging thing to do, which I can get away with learning it while at work.
Anyhow, reasons that today kicks ass:
1) Thank all that is good in the cosmos, it's Friday!
2) I now have a sexeh new 2008 Ford Focus, which is an awesome shade of blue, like a flash of lightning through an evening storm. It's also the first car I've owned that isn't utterly falling apart on me, and I that I can actually have repaired if anything goes wrong since it's under the original warranty still!
Having a parent who's got some executive clout at Ford is damned nice... and it's rather neat to think that he designed lots of parts that went into the car too. I'll post a photo-comparison of my old car and my new one once I get back from...
3) ...the
awesome backpacking trip I'm going on this weekend! Last night, we condensed all our food down, getting rid of most of the packaging that comes with it, grouping and measuring the ingredients by meal. and divying it out to each of our backpackers... and we are going to eat
Damned well while on the trail. We've got dried potatoes, gravy, english muffins, soup mix, pepperoni, cheese blocks, tortillas, dried papaya, cashews... Heck, we're even bringing a No Bake Cheesecake, which we're going to make out of purified river water, over a kerosene stove, in the middle of a damned canyon! How hip is that?
We also have a can of Deviled Ham, which none of us have ever had before. I'm rather terrified of canned meat, particualrly one that bears the Mark Of The Beast... I don't know what to expect from infernally consecrated pigmeats...
We shall see!
