Half way through a 2 hour period where I have the house to myself. This is the only time I can actually listen to music on the computer. Good to listen to some Sonata Arctica.

Headphones.
Don't have any. Parents have been laid-off for over a year now, so getting one is unlikely. Well, my Dad did just get a 2 year contract, so maybe I can get some soon. Just gotta wait until the background check is over, and his paychecks to come in.

Nonsense, I have a pair of cheapo headphones (only 10$) which are easily the best I've ever come across. They're small, light, and durable enough for me to wear them around my neck all day with no damage to them whatsoever, and they're actually very comfortable. There's only one cord, so that's manageable, and they came with a normal small plug, and a larger plug which attaches to the smaller for some other use that I'm not aware of, but it's still nice. The sound quality is nice, and they have just enough padding to be very comfortable to my ears so I don't mind wearing them at all, and I often forget they're even on!

I take great care of them, because they're so nice to me.

So I indirectly turned a psychopath into a monkey and then ordered him locked him in the machine that did the job and left him to die.

Good times.

If you tell me how this is possible, i will worship you like a god.

Have you started playing SS13 like you said you would? Because if you don't you'll end up regretting it.

Kay, I'll get a pair. Wasn't aware that there were ones that could last long and are cheap. But I can't steal any from school... no clue where they're kept.

Language lab.  ... But don't steal them or the French students will eat you.

I did 6 years of high-school french and 5 of Japanese (started at third year for both).  The people who use sound-related stuff the most are generally language students, since the audio/vid people (if you have any) are going to be a smaller group and every single damned language class is going to be stuck repeating "Genzai toukyou ni ha, iro-iro ryuugakusei ga ite... blah blah blah" or the equivalent, possibly for an hour a week or more.  This goes especially for AP French Language, if your school offers it.

Now, the headphones might be built into the cassette players, in which case you're out of luck--but there's probably a pair lying around somewhere which can be connected into standard audio ports.

Only other possibility I can think of is the special-ed classrooms, but if you take any from there you are a Very Bad Person.  Seriously.

Hmmm. I'm in Spanish yet we haven't used anything like that. Haven't really seen any school headphones around actually. And stealing from Special-ed is a moral event horizon. I am not doing that.

Yes.  Don't, or I will personally eat your head over IRC >_>

And that's interesting... it's probably because I come from a relatively wealthy school district, so we have a really well-maintained language lab.  Sorry, doodabuddy.  On the other hand, if you have any relatives that are planning to take a plane flight soon, you might be able to get a pretty cheap pair that way.

What?!  How did you do this amazing thing?

EDIT: Oh, I forgot.  You might also try yardsales.  I got the scientific calculator I used through most of high school for a buck that way.

The fact that people over 40  blithely use the phrase "hook up" to mean "meet", completely oblivious to what they are saying to the ears of everyone under 40
