The snow is melted, the grass is starting to green up again, and the birds are finally flying back! While running erands, I saw 3 hawks, about 25 geese, flocks of sparrows, and a turkey vulture!

Can't wait for it to warm up enough to start hiking again, and to take a kayak out on the lake! I might even go backpacking with some friends in the mountains! Huzzah for Not-Winter!

While eating an orange, I noticed the skin on the inner portions tasted almost exactly like the skin on a raspberry. This got me thinking about how similar the two actually are, compared with other fruit; both contain their seeds within separate segments of fruit, surrounded by a thin skin. Granted, they are still worlds appart, but it's interesting to see the emmergence of common models of seed/fruit containment. I wonder if the skin on the segments of an orange and the nodules of a raspberry are made of the same stuff, and/or are based on a common ancestor?

Ermm.... yes. For inexplicable reasons, this makes me happy. I'm going to go find the nearest botany texbook , and see if I can't solve this one.
