I once had a game for Sega Saturn called Shining: The Holy Ark. Damn game took me nearly as long to beat it, all because of this one puzzle near the end that I couldn't solve. When I finally beat it... well, yeah. I understand the feeling.

Checking it out (to get the desktop pic), I learned that that game is being re-developed for WiiWare; similar thing with La-Mulana.

What's going to be awesome about this is that my nephew owns a Wii, and has played a few difficult games as well as watched me play a couple of them sometimes when he visits. Once these games are out, I'm going to introduce him to them. Plus, if I recall from the developer's notes on La-Mulana, the game will be a little easier, and a few things will be updated (like the rom names for example) along with graphics and a few other things. Since he's growing up and has been raised properly as a gamer kid (he's actually getting pretty good already), he should be able to appreciate quality games for the right reasons. Graphics aren't everything.

My knowledge of the game after having beaten it before ought to surprise him whenever he needs the help.

EDIT: I... my god. I just beat Jedi Knight II. 8 years after I bought it.

This is an emotional moment for me.

Now, you must go through the game again, picking the opposite lightsaber style and opposite alignment, on Master difficulty. Have fun.

Ah. I was thinking of Jedi Academy (the sequel.) I've played through both, and even though Outcast is excellent, Academy is nonetheless superior in every way. You can create your own character (down to lightsaber color) and choose new force skills as you "level up." (Level 3 force lightning at the third level equals win.) The game also explains the various lightsaber "combos" that you can do, so the combat system is much, much more engaging. Play it, you must.
