Got a mechanical pencil today for my birthday ~  So happy!  It has a nice eraser and a grip that doesn't feel like peat moss, and it's not one of those terribly asinine colors, either.  Plus, it clicks nicely and has a hanging metal clip.  I can already tell that it's going to last a long time, unlike all the other ones I used to have which fell apart due to overuse.

Also, only 2.5 more years and I'll be out of this goddamned hellhole and independent.  If I'm capable of escaping whenever I need to and getting away, then I'll probably stop having so many problems in other areas  :)

Heh. At first glance, I thought it was a bunny rabbit. Now I'm disappointed.

Change your avatar to a bunny rabbit.

Yeah, he's a banned spammer. Normally we'd delete this thread too, but people were having too much fun with it by the time we got here.

That genie thing? My bother showed it to me a long time ago. I thing that it is a self-modifying database of the probabilities of yes/no/whatever else for each character for each question, and then it just takes the closest match. It probably also adjusts very slightly after each right/wrong answer, and if they wanted to add a new character, they could just give it general stats that they feel closely resembles that character, and let the internet fine-tune it.

It would also need a method of finding the best question to ask, by what would narrow down the possibilities best.

The way Akinator works is that it asks you questions that most neatly divide the possible characters and continues to narrow it down. If it has 18/20 characteristics of the questions answered, and nothing else has that or above, it will give you that character. If it is incorrect, it asks what character you were referring to. You either add a new character which is assigned the characteristics you gave when asked questions, or you choose from a list of other characters it thought came close, in which case that character you chose is slightly changed to match the characteristics you gave more accurately.

Also: Somebody added in the character of 'you answered randomly', I'm guessing, because there's also the character of 'that guy that always answers probably/partially yes'.

It does ask randomly though.

Like, say, sometimes it asks the same question twice, or sometimes it asks questions that have absolutely no relevance.

For example:

Does your character have blonde hair? Yes

Does your character have blue hair? No.

Does your character have black hair? No...

Does your character have red hair? NO!

That might be there to define people with multiple hair colours, but it's equally as likely it's random.

There is also an entry for My RPG Character, which I can only assume is the fan-wank spawn of horrible ideas people have for an RPG character. Why I got to it after already saying no to various things that define that character is unknown.

STEAM is selling the X-Com complete pack for $2.00 USD. Made me smile, especially with all this talk about X-Com going around Bay12, I figured I might as well grab it and familiarize myself with the series. Also, reading this thread makes me happy, too. Unexpected little laughs - I've become a fan of them.

Equally annoying when it asks you a series of hair colour related ones before the question "Do they have hair?" (No).
