Oh, man. That first parental meeting is the worst- it has entirely to do with the parents and there's nothing you can do about it. First day I met my girlie's mom, she told me I was being too stiff, polite, and unnatural. Next day I didn't thank her immediately for something since I wasn't on Facebook all day (yeah, there's that too- social landmine, that one, avoid, avoid, avoid!), and she winds up telling me she was comparing me against my lady's other friends and she thought I'd be more courteous.

It's still touch-and-go with her, so I try to minimize interaction. The stepdad's hard to talk with, but he stays out of the way, and her actual dad is a really cool guy who was much easier to warm up to.
This is going to come off way harsh, but....from that description, I can sorta see why her parents aren't still together.  ???

I for one look forward to the day when I can scare the ever-living bejeezus out of my daughter's potential suitors. I'm thinking Trial by Stone, for starters.

Parents are the best thing in the world. I'm sick and don't live home, yet my mother is out shopping some food and milk for me because I'm too dizzy to trust my bicycle.

Ah, I have a variant of that coming up - meet the family members girlfreind. Of course, this puts me on the side of POWAH. My brother has introduced my family to some corkers before, most notably the "dancer" who wanted me to explain who Einstein was (she had no idea), and what a nuclear power plant was for. To be fair, if this next one can cope with me in full on arrogant, angry, pissed off intellectual socialist mode, then good on her, she will have passed a rite of passage.

I met my girlfriend's parents recently. Her dad was a bit distant but her mom was crazy awesome. Rode out to SC with them to see a light show and go shopping. I am totally confident, however, that my parents will devour her soul.

RedKing's right about Meet the Parents, though. I still need to see Meet the Fockers (Fawkers?)

It's one of those 'hehehe' sort of happies.

Racist people commenting on youtube, I get fed up, and start the stupid arguments. presently: YOU AIN'T GOT NO PANCAKE MIX!

I'm guessing this is an Aunt Jemima reference?

Just had my wisdom teeth removed. General anaesthesia does weird things to your brain.  You know that Monty Python Sketch where John Cleese sees everything double? That's basically me right now. It took me like five minutes to type this out, but I'm pretty sure I fixed all the typos.

When I had mine out, they just used novocaine and laughing gas. Duuuuude. That's some good shit. It was rather interesting to be conscious and (somewhat) lucid while several people are busy stuffing your mouth with pounds of cotton, and then drilling away your flesh to extract chunks of your skull. At one point they were trying to yank one out and the crown broke off. I distinctly remember thinking, "Oops...pretty sure that wasn't supposed to happen. Oh well...WHEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee"

Recovery was a bitch and a half though. Although I spent most of it zoned out on opiates and hallucinating. Wisdom teeth are basically a legal excuse to get high as a kite, is what I'm saying.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Had a big somewhat long relaxing bath. Haven't had one in a long time and while I'm not terribly sure what I was relaxing from it certainly helped, I feel rather good now and most of the drowsyness and depression have faded away. Hopefully this stuff keeps up since I have a bunch of plans for next year.

Now to find that time capsule thread :D
