For the longest time (probably since summer) I had a watermelon in my personal fridge that I kept on forgetting to take out/dispose of, and I eventually forgot about it, to enough of a degree, that i kept putting it off. There was also an avacado in there as well. Well, after unintentionally waiting 6 months to take them out (laziness), somehow, the watermelon cold-brewed/fermented in the cold fridge, and the avacado turned into a rather large raisin.
Cleaning out the fridge was a bit of a chore, but I was laughing at the absurdity of it all. First off, I never knew you could brew vodka in purely cold conditions (it was pretty strong, and reeked of alcohol, pretty decent proof cold-brewed); rendering my fridge into a makeshift still, and second off, disposing it in the open lot next door, the local wildlife is going to have such a hangover the following morning once they get their hands on it. I mean, the watermelon bled clear alcohol as I was taking it out of the fridge (It was pretty strong proof odor there.), and was beginning to fall apart to the point I had to lightly throw it a short distance so it wouldn't explode on me as I threw it. Funny enough, the watermelon was a spare for another, and was completely forgotten, was never opened, and that happened, and it was mostly intact and the same size out after sitting in there for so long. I think I stumbled upon a new brewing method, if only I could salvage it.
I wonder if there's a way I can do a controlled cold-brew? It may take some time to allow nature to take over like that, however.
EDIT:
I think when I threw it, it maintained form, so it's a self-contained natural barrel of booze for the local animals. A good way to deal with the weather outside.
