I need to get legos again.

I want to try making all sorts of odd vehicles like I used to. Hell, me and my neighbour created a small town from legos. starting off with my single small house.

I built it to replace his 'house' that was about 2 bricks tall, and 3 long.

The quality of plastic used to make Lego has gone down in recent years. So yeah, expect pieces to break more easily.

It turns out I won't be hosting somebody who is in between homes for a few days, since she made other plans. So, not only do I get to keep being a recluse, my apartment is now cleaner and I now have a spare set of bedding and stuff so that I can actually have guests on short notice. Downside is, I was planning to make the related purchases next month, since I am now out of money. Payday is in 6 days and I went grocery shopping today, so no big deal, but still.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Just got together with my old gaming group to run a One-Shot of Deadlands, a Horror-themed Western tabletop game.

We were on the trail of a huckster who was peddling wares to isolated frontier towns... towns which seemed to be losing crops and mysteriously starving to death in his wake. Tracked him down to a supposed failed farming village, which I expected to be a ghost town, but was instead bustling with people. Apparently all the famine and sudden inexplicable wasting away hadn't touched them, despite all their crops looking just as wilted. A generous woman in the town claimed to be feeding the whole town from her small home garden, and offered to hold a feast while we were there. Our party's preacher got the notion to hold Catholic Mass and Confessional beforehand to sniff around for any guilt or clues to what was going on, but had no luck. While at the feast, we caught a glimpse of a Cornucopia in the woman's pantry, which we later discovered she received as a gift from the shady salesman. It apparently produced an endless supply of food for the town, but unbeknownst to them had been supernaturally starving people in the surrounding villages to do so. As the sun set that night, the corpses of those from the surrounding area who had been starved to death by the Cornucopia rose again to feast on those who'd been eating from it.

So yeah, long story short, Cowboys vs. Demons. Really got a kick out of the setting and story, and it was great to see some old friends too.

So I just saw The Expendables 2.
HOLY SHIT THIS IS THE ACTIONEST MOVIE EVER
Chuck Norris shows up at one point for a few minutes - he kills thirty people, blows up a tank somehow, makes a Chuck Norris joke, and leaves.
The bad guy
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
So many Terminator references.
And above all...
THOSE FIRST FIVE MINUTES HOLY SHIT.
SO MANY PEOPLE GETTING KILLED.

Micheal Bay: God of Explosions.
That could be in D&D.

...what was the God-Emperor of Man doing as a stuntman? Alternately, what was a magical girl guy doing as a stuntman? Because, y'know, that's pretty much the only way for love to be "lost" because of a death, seeing as how it's normally an emotion rather than actual energy or matter.

And of course what a terrible thing to happen, I hope they have the decency to cut the scene like they did when that guy died filming the Crow, etc. etc.

I remember playing with lego. In fact, I still have my boxes of the stuff in my room, along with some of my favourite creations. :D One time I started building a little town, but I kinda ran out of blocks... Need to get more!

I remember how I used to always detach pieces with my teeth because my little babby hands were too small and weak, to the point that my mother eventually bought me a pair of pliers to stop me ingesting plastic.

Just bought Mirror's Edge for $6 as opposed to the $20 asking price as part of a flash sale on Steam.

Whoop whoop.

Now I just have to wait for my 70 kb/s connection to download the approximate 6,000 MB.

...whoop.

Quote from: The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street
The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout.  There are weapons that are simply thoughts, attitudes, prejudices, to be found only in the minds of men.  For the record, prejudices can kill and suspicion can destroy, and a thoughtless, frightened search for a scapegoat has a fallout all of its own - for the children, and the children yet unborn.  And the pity of it is that these things cannot be confined to the Twilight Zone.
