Why is it that every time I see a baby doing something beyond its age limitations, I think of Terry Pratchetts Thief of time?

After ~14 straight hours of coding on my erosion simulation program, I have 3d objects loading from .obj files, rendering those objects, doing newtonian physics on those objects, a physics-based craft with 10 force-producing engines, each with their own keypress (making it sort of like QWOP but with spaceships), and a hacked-together collision test with the ground heightmap using ray-triangle intersection tests cannibalized from my raytracer. Yay for highly productive night and copypasta from previous projects.

As it turns out, when you copypasta enough in your programming projects, all the systems are similar enough to make further copypasta incredibly easy while meshing almost seamlessly together. :P

That is because it was an awesome book!
I mean seriously, time slicing monks, crazy clock builders with assistance from Igors, school teachers. Thief of time had everything.

I think what I really liked was his explanation of how you could have some skinny-ass ninety year old monk pulling these amazing martial arts moves. It wasn't that he was in superhuman physical form, it's just that he slowed local time, hobbled over to you, and punched you right as he sped time back up.

And the scene where

No, in this case Rule One is "Do not act incautiously when confronting little bald wrinkly smiling men."
(Rule Nineteen is "Remember never to forget Rule One, and always ask yourself, how come it was created in the first place?")

Ooh, you meant that rule 1. No this is another rule 1. This rule 1 has to do with not getting your face destroyed.

Rule one is applied in almost all universes.

Really it transcends cultural bounds. The old man is NEVER weak.
