According to my napkin math, that's about 1.5 miles. Which seems a reasonable amount to ask of someone every day. It's about a half hour of walking.

Incidentally, take the stairs. Just cutting out elevators will give you a decent bit of exercise. Of course, I started doing it because I could get where I was going faster than the ancient elevators in most of the buildings at my university. So I started getting in a bit more exercise because I'm too lazy to be lazy.
