It started raining metaphorical buckets this afternoon, which is cool because otherwise it'd be hot *rimshot*.

Also my parts have arrived. Soon, I will have my own computer, bought with my own money, built by my own hands. Today, I will become a man!

Oh, that series. You know, it probably could have been about a quarter the length or less and lost nothing.

Did a playtest of my new boardgame last night. Went really well, and while there are a bunch of balance fixes that need to go in the core gameplay is really solid. I'm incredibly happy with how this game is turning out considering how little time has gone into the development of it!

Last summer, I made it about half way through before giving up. It's a good way to kill time, I guess, if you can survive the tedium.

The Forever War, by Joe Haldeman. One of the pillars of military sci-fi, often used as a compare/contrast with Starship Troopers. It's a pretty easy read and not that long. It's simultaneously a parable for the Vietnam War, using relativistic time dilation as the analogue for the sense of alienation returning soldiers feel from the civilian world they return to after war.

3 minute-apart double-post.  ???

WTF how did that happen?  ???

Sorry about that... It was meant to be an edit.  I don't know how it turned into a separate post without my noticing, though.  I went to bed immediately after hitting submit.

Tomorrow, I shall be going to the mall. I will pretend to be a Swedish exchange student to high school girls. Since nobody here knows anything about Sweden beyond the usual stereotypes of peaceful socialists who make furniture, this will amount to me speaking in a ridiculous pseudo-Nordic accent and saying outrageous things. My hope is that at least one of them will want to have dinner with me.

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

I mean, I am in high school. And it doesn't matter what the accent IS, I don't think, so long as it sounds like what people THINK a Swede should sound like.
