Norwenglish, to be precis. "Suttonde" is the Norway way of saying seventeenth (Swedish would be "sjuttonde"). Also yeah, National Day. It's a bigger thing here than our own. They are so quaint, those Norwegians, celebrating how we Swedes were oh so magnanimous and allowed them to have a nation of their own. Little do they know that the control of their fringe kingdom still lies within our hands, even despite their newfound oily riches, for in our hands lie the production of the mashed bananas they crave so much.

Yes. The one who controls the Mashed Bananas, controls Norway. And for now, the Mashed Bananas must flow!

Yeah I really didn't play Iji all the way through, I don't know why, it's not like I wasn't enjoying myself. Maybe I'll give it another look.

I was going for a pacifistic run, and after the truce with the Tasen and discovering that some had survived in a bunker, I wanted to meet them. However, in that version, Iosa killed them all regardless of how you played. In the new one, a pacifistic Iji will actually beat Iosa there and the Tasen will let her in.

There's a problem with the new Pacifist mode, though.

Killing an enemy with their own bullets using the shooty-reflecting-shield thing no longer counts as a kill.  That ruined pacifist mode for me, though the obvious solution is "don't use it".  See, it's true that they shot at you first, so you can argue that it's their fault.  But if YOU armed your reflection shield, then jumped in the pit and provoked them to shoot you with full knowledge that it would kill them instead, and then you stole their nano charge stuff... well, then you still killed someone for their loot.  True pacifism lies in avoiding those who would do you harm, instead of giving them death at their own hands.

Man, the music in that game is the best ever.  But if you didn't get there legitimately, some of the impact is lost.  The endboss music is amazing, and the credits music is heartwrenchingly beautiful (given the events).
