Back in Civ II I always found Gandhi to be quite friendly.
Civ IV had him always cranky unless I was immensely powerful, in which case he was a good ally provided I kept him supplied with aid.

Why is it that spending 8 hours delivering life-saving medication merits a resounding internal "Meh, it's good work I suppose", but when I spend 30 seconds fixing a hospitalized kid's television so he can watch Spiderman, I think, "Oh man I am the most awesome dude. The most." I clearly have no sense of priorities.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Because the kid is more excitable than the old(er) people with the important meds?

Because one provides a tangible effect and one provides a more difficult to comprehend automatically effect.

It's normal.

Re-reading Death Note from the beginning to the end (the first time around I gave up halfway through), watching Code Geass for the first time, and recently finished the Fullmetal Alchemist manga.  I'm at a good point in my evolution into a japanophile.

On the topic of the Civ games, which one's the best?

Anyway, Firefox made me happy today. So much better than IE.

I like Civ IV.

Then again, it's the only one I've played, so there's some bias :P

I think Civ 5 is the best, after trying to get into copys of 3 and 4 and just not having it click. I'm an old civ 2 playing fogey though so it might be that I'm more used to that kind of thing.

Speaking of, just won my first co-op game with SHAD0Wdump. The German-Incan union won out over Denmark, The Iriquios, and Russia. Took about 182 turns, would of been faster if I had actually learned the game at that point and ran my civ properly but it's still great time.

Up next I'm not sure? I wanna finish up tearing Napoleons head off and shitting down his neck before turning my sights over to a certain river warlord that thinks I'm his friend. Chinese theologist autocratic warmongering hoo~

But until then, more stupid horse. Maybe some mango juice too.

So, I just got back from a huge training session with regional retail associates. Expected turnout was about 115. There were over 200 people there, not including +1s. I handed out about 900 raffle tickets. None of MY RSRs won anything, but they were happy anyway. Also, private viewing of The Hunger Games. Very, very good movie.

Did I mention that I was on the clock from 12-5 then 7-1:15a today? Also, free food! I ate SO MUCH POPCORN. :))

Only Civilization I ever beat was for the super nintendo. Do you have any idea how hard it is to play without a mouse? I remembered I had one with Mario Paint about halfway through, and the game got 500% more enjoyable.

They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

On the topic of the Civ games, which one's the best?

Fall From Heaven 2 Civ IV & V.

They have their own quirks and merits, V isn't an obvious improvement over IV. I'd go with Civ IV for now if you can get a compilation with all the expansions. They're still patching/making expansions for V so just go with the finished game you can get at the discount bin.
