I didn't even know there was a NES3. I vaguely remember the second movie have acid water, sparkly boats, and some sort of gumball machine in a spaceship.

The very first book was quite entertaining.

Wii-mote controlled wings allowing a person to fly.

The system works by sending accelerometer data from two Wiimotes to an Android smartphone, which controls the flapping of the wings, keeping their movements in sync with the pilot’s arm movements.

And apparently it works (video in the link).

err, I can imagine a phone 'controlling' the wings.. but what provides the power? I guess he's basically parasailing while working out his arms?

I presumed there was some mechanism to make the flapping easier, since I don't think human arms can even get strong enough to flap wings that large that fast.

Yeah, the arms are just the control mechanism; there are videos of the motors used for the actual flapping of the wings. You can even hear the motors they used in the video right around takeoff.
