I show symptoms of discerning taste buds and thus can't stand the taste of tea or coffee. I'll probably get into it eventually, but for now, my tea is Mountain Dew.

Normal, mostly. Sometimes code red, sometimes livewire and the red game fuel. The rest of the stuff branded "MTN DEW" tastes like ass.

The only good flavor of Mt.Dew was that limited run "grape" that looked and tasted like liquid death. It was... delightful.

As for tea/coffee, I drink both. Tea is for relaxing (Earl Grey) or with light meals (ginseng or green); coffee (dark roast, 2 scoops per cup of water) is for waking up on bad days. Hot chocolate is for snowy days~. And John Wayne coffee is for showing up at work at 5:30am because the people who chartered the cruise wanted to leave at 7:00 and I got off an evening shift at 11:00 last night.  ::)

You know, it isn't fair... They made coffee and chocolate taste good and called it mocha. Why can't they make chocolate and tea work?

I prefer code red or livewire when it is available.

There's always honeyed tea.

Has anyone here tried making sun-brewed tea? You need a large, clear glass jar (with lid), your favorite tea mix, and a sunny day. Fill jar with water, add tea (preferably in bags), close lid, and leave in direct sunlight for an hour or two. It's perfect for making large batches, if you're having a party or want to keep some chilled.

Don't you know that the sun is poisonous? That "sun-tea" stuff will kill you, man.

They have. Put cocoa powder and honey in tea. Problem solved! It's not as bad as it sounds - mint goes well with it, and I expect using one of the richer, creamier types of tea mixes would be effective (chai or something?).

Also, I didn't fuck up making the $12,000 clotting factor today. I'm pretty happy about that since I was constantly thinking, "Oh god what if I fuck up what if I fuck up". And then I had to do it two more times. Really hope the patient has good insurance, and also that there's a good reason for the stuff being so preposterously expensive (such as mass production being currently impossible or something equally obnoxious). I think I'm going to go look that up now, actually.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

It's... not actually the sun that's the problem, it's the fact that you're warming(without boiling) a container of water with nutrients in it, which is a good recipe for bacteria.

Even without it attacking my food and drink, the sun still tries to kill me. The only radiation I need comes from my monitor and my microwave. :P

Eh, we've never had problems with it. I suppose you could use filtered or bottled water if you wanted.

Hmm, I would boil the water first...
I think it would work best for something delicate like a white tea. Black is best brewed at pretty much boiling point, while you need to be a lot more careful with your white tea, it is very easy to spoil.

'S why I normally go for black, just throw your billy over a fire and give it a few swings when your done to drop the leaves.

Knowledge Bowl has a capacity for 6 players to be on a varsity team at once, and we have 8 people that are good enough to be on it. Throughout the first four competitions, we've rotated people in and out so that everyone gets at least 2 by the end of the Series of Five, earning them a varsity letter. There are the main 6 from last year, plus two new guys who are pretty good. At the next (and final) competition, we will need to switch one of the top 6 out for one of the others. There are only two people who haven't switched out for a competition yet: myself and one other person.

The team was discussing who to switch out, and I brought up the fact that I had been in every competition so far, implying that I would be willing to trade my spot out. They all looked at me like I was nuts, and one of them told me that my participation at the next tournament would be critical.

Gotta say, it feels good to see that my studying has paid off. Countless hours of reading, browsing Wikipedia, and chilling with you people has taught me far more in the past four years than high school. (Barring math, which I've found to be quite difficult to learn independently. I guess the internet can't do quite everything. (What's this? Khan Academy?)
