The problem is that when ever they try to get brand names into Australia, there is such a low turn over. I mean even if everybody in the country buys one, that is still only 23 million units sold. Hell, a ramen vendor on the streets on Tokyo sells more noodles than that a day! Then you need to try and ship things over here, and if your ship doesn't get struck on the reef then the whales will sink you and eat the crew. We are just not commercially viable.

There's also the problem of perishability. One of the reasons for the development of Vegemite was that virtually every other condiment you can think of would go bad by the time it got to Australia. Whereas Vegemite is incapable of going bad, because it's already there. It's leftover beer curd.
