My sister is voice acting upstairs. To any random person listening in they would just hear a girl screaming  obscenities for five minutes straight.

"she is super pissed good lord what could cause a person to scream obscenities for five minutes straight?"

RA3 is good for two things: a silly expansion, and recreating RA1 in 3d.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Neat little story a friend linked to me, i always like these sort of things that have a twist on the usual SF stuff ^^
I have tons of these. IIRC this one takes place in a universe where humanity develops in a region of space that drives people insane if they stay there too long. When the Aliens see our ships flying out of there, coupled with our incredibly garbled and demonic sounding first contact transmissions, they are convinced we are cthulhu-esque beings

A friend linked me to this.  I had absolutely no suspicion that it was The Onion, and would have never realized it if I hadn't by pure chance glanced at the address bar on my browser.  It was so damn believable.

That was hilarious. I shudder to think that anyone would do a write-up like that of Detroit.

Oh, wow!  I have an A in my set theory midterm, too!  It was even an A before the curve!

That is really fucking good, guys, because the A cutoff was at 83%.  Really!  Fucking!  Good!

Hurray!

I live in Indianapolis, so I can mock it.  Unfortunately, this article doesn't even mock.

Indianapolis has been trying to promote itself as a tourist destination and major event hosting city for a while now.  The only intrinsic asset this place has for that purpose is its geographic location.  There is absolutely nothing interesting here, and most of the state is hollywood caricature levels of backwoods and xenophobic if you drive more than 30 minutes away from the few inner city blocks of Indianapolis in any direction.

Yet for some reason, the local government here is incredibly gung-ho about this idea and has been working really hard to make it a reality.  Mostly they've been cutting state education funds by millions every year for the past 10 years or so while raising taxes.  What we're getting in return is a couple fancy hotels, poorly executed and unnecessary renovations to every highway that connects major hotels to the inner city while roads more important to locals are left to decay, the ugly-as-sin square brick monolith that is the Lucas Oil Stadium (that mysteriously only added a few thousand seats over the RCA Dome despite its monstrous size and $720 million cost), and the empty promise that this stuff will bring in tourists that will revitalize the local economy in the long run.

So yeah... this is one of those darkly 'It's funny because it's true' sorta things.

I'm out of debate. This makes me really, really happy. And in its place I have a repeat of the class I'm working on C++ in, so I get either: An additional 100 minutes to work on C++; or 100 minutes to read a good book. Every Wednesday and Friday. Mondays it's 50 minutes. And I also (have to) learn five Latin roots a week, as the course work goes. Things are good now.

In the C++ tutorial I'm using, they had to explain why global variables are 'evil' and should be avoided. To do this, they showed an example in which using a global variable, rather than a local one, could blow up the world. Containing my laughter was hard.

Lastly, Alpha Protocol is downloading now; will be finished soon. It should be a pretty good game. Even if it's rather average, I only paid $2 for it. I paid $4 for Shadowgrounds and Trine, and considered it money well-spent. This is definitely a good purchase.
