Reality more awesome than fiction.

Samuel Beckett

Playwright, novelist, and Nobel laureate

meets

André the Giant
Gargantuan professional wrestling legend

In 1953, fresh off the success of Waiting for Godot, Beckett bought a plot of land near the hamlet of Molien, in the commune of Ussy-sur-Marne, about forty miles northeast of Paris. There he built a cottage for himself with some help from a group of locals, including a Bulgarian-born farmer named Boris Rousimoff. Over the years, Beckett and Rousimoff became friends and would occasionally get together for card games. Rousimoff had a son, André, known as Dédé, who was something of a physical marvel. By the age of 12, André was over six feet tall and weighed 240 pounds. No school bus could hold him, and his family lacked the means to buy a car big enough to schlep him back and forth to school in Ussy-sur-Marne. Enter Boris’ old card-playing buddy Beckett, who owned a truck and was more than willing to pay his friend back for his help with the cottage by giving a lift to his enormous pituitary case of a son on his drives into town. Years later, when recounting his conversations with Beckett (which he did often), André the Giant revealed that they rarely talked about anything besides cricket.

Fezzik :D Also, large amounts of alcohol in taverns because he couldn't fit anywhere else.

The wife is going veggie (due to health issues that I don't want to get into here,) but doesn't know any good recipes.
So...now both of you are going to being exclusively eating food that will cause physical harm to the other?

Nah, we still have the crossroads of animal byproducts. Eggs, cheese, milk, butter, etc. There is also pasta and bread (although I have to seriously watch my intake.)

A friend on Facebook cued me in to the meme-game of adding "In My Pants" to movie titles. Meanwhile, my coworkers are wondering why I'm choking back laughter every couple of minutes.

There are a lot of humorous outcomes for that. Although I was disturbed when I considered There Will Be Blood.

I've been doing the "In My Pants" meme for years, but with song titles instead of movie titles. There is a larger base to work with.

The Soundless Dawn Came Alive as Cities Began to Mark the Horizon ... In My Pants.

Trouble is a Friend In My Pants.

Today has been a good day. Started out hurrying through my morning chores, late as always, before I went to see my therapist(ish). I was a bit worried there would be no free parking spots in the small lot next to the house, as otherwise I'd have to either park in the main lot on the other side of the hospital complex, or a lot near a park a good 5-10 minute walk away (which on the other hand is free, but I was already a few minutes late), or steal a spot from on of the a bit closer lots dedicated to other hospital buildings/branches/whatever, which I know is a really assy thing to do since they're crowded enough to to begin with.

Anyways, onwards to the good parts about it; when I arrive there's just one spot left, perfectly sized for the car, which I can take. Just a few seconds after me, coming from the other direction, is another car looking for a place as well. I was a little relieved.

So, when I'm done with the meeting, I manage to remember I need to buy new medicine before I'm out of town (for once), and drive over to the main lot where the apothecary is. All the free places are obviously taken, so I park at the pay-spots closer to the drugstore. While I'm sitting in my car contemplating whether I really should pay for an hour of parking when I might just be in there a few minutes, or go in there without paying and risk being stuck for 30-40 minutes if there's a lot of people waiting already (I realise now that I could just have gone in, taken a waiting ticket, and then gone back outside to pay if there was many other customers there, but I didn't think of it then). Anyway, while I'm sitting there thinking about it, a man walks up to the car and asks me if I'm going to be there a long time, then gives me his parking ticket, which still has a lot of time left. Thankfully, because I probably would've let my cheapness get the better of me and I was inside the apothecary for about twenty minutes.

Moreover, it turns out I was just 1 Swedish krona (0,16 US dollars) from my "high cost protection" kicking in, so that's was all I had to pay for the medicine. Isn't socialism grand? Then, to top the day off, somebody parks just next to me the moment I get back to my car, so I have a moment to pay forward the favour from earlier by giving the ticket (that still had an hour left) to that woman. Hopefully making her day better as well.

All in all, it was a very good day. I hardly felt tired at all when I got home, like I usually do after therapy. And now, as I finish this post, the sun is breaking through the rain clouds to warm my feet. I guess this became a rather lengthy post, mayhaps, but I had a lot of happies inside me today.
