Man, now I'm all picturing a big spiders exoskeleton being squished by a pair of cheap flip-flops. It's such a gross sound. I don't even want to imagine the mess.

It's a cleaner kill than you think. Plus, I at least (somewhat) ask forgiveness as I make my kill. Plus, the legs of the spiders usually keep the corpse easy to clean up when they curl up.

Plus, with the kind of attack I make, you hear the smack of the shoe more than the actual break of an exoskeleton like a king crab. It also kinda helps that I stun them before I make the kill (even a miss would somewhat count as a hit, provided it K.O.s the spider first).

@Jackrabbit:
I don't like when I come across a sleeping spider. Sometimes they're deceivingly huge. Little body on the floor; a curious gust of wind in their direction (blowing at them to wake them up), and watching them unfold open like a transformer. Considering the sizes we get, all I need is the Transformers unfolding noise. First the size of an Oreo cookie while asleep, upon waking up, the size of a hand.

EDIT:
Now that I think about it, I've noticed quite a few creatures you wouldn't expect actually sleep on their backs sometimes (even one of my cats does the same thing).

I had this spider PRETEND TO BE DEAD. It was all curled up in the 'legs curved inwards' dead pose they assume and as I was looking at it I spilled some water on it and it flipped out. I didn't know spiders played dead but now I'll never trust them again.

Man, now I'm reminded of the movie Arachnophobia.

Such a good movie, but I'm sure it's ruined many people's lives (including mine).

Can we please stop this talk about spiders, it doesn't make me happy at all.
*shudder*

Why... they're so nice. See, that one over there is smiling at you:

Jumping spiders are pretty much the best.  I guess that video is doubly relevant, considering what day it is.

Eehhhhhh...
Ew! Ew!
I know I'm being a complete pansy but I freak out if I see a spider that's even the size of a dime, and I can't get within 30 feet of one bigger than a quarter without feeling like I need to sit in the shower for half an hour so they can't get me.
I'm not coming back to this thread for a while just to be safe.

When I was up north, the girl across the hall from my room was lying down to read a book.
Then a dock spider crawled out from the front of her shirt and onto her neck.

I think the cabin across the lake heard her scream.

Makes you wonder how long that spider was under her shirt.

After another vomiting fit, I managed to drink some water and fall asleep.
I had a dream that flying jellyfish had been introduced to the world.
Also, all the cool stuff humans get in the Halo series.
After being stung by a horde of small, but practically invisible jellies, I became Jellyman.
The super awesome assassin that is totally not based on Batman.
I used weapons coated with poison made from deadly jellyfish stingers and by the time you saw me, it was too late.

I just read that Saint Valentine is the patron of not only love, but of beekeepers.  This made me think of Eddie Izzard.  Therefore, all is well.  ;D

But really he's just a softie inside. They all are really. When megabeasts come to your fort you never welcome them inside and give them a hug, do you. You heartless bastards...
