Relatives came over today, and as I was late up from bed (got into the shower just betore they arrived, by noon), I got Strawberry Cake for breakfast.

Off to the CERN laboratories in Switzerland/ France tomorrow.  Should be pretty interesting, and I might get some good photos.

Installed IE9. Interface is a bit ugly, and I don't like how the menu bar is under the tabs row(I put tabs on its own row, since I didn't like how it was on the same row as the address bar). On the plus side, stuff saying my browser is outdated has stopped, everything seems just a bit faster, and the Bing search bar from IE8(I think it was Google at first, then Microsoft ninja'd Bing in there) is gone, which I like(it was annoying to look at).

All in all, not a bad install. For now, anyway.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Wow that is the closest-to-actual-event premonition I think I ever had.  Dreamt about hanging out with my little cousins and I just learned a few mins ago their coming to visit.

Broke some barriers with my brother lastnight.  Maybe I'll actually succeed in getting him to not fail horribly this next semester.  Probably not, but I'm more hopeful than I have been in the past.

My garden is doing well, FINALLY!

The habaneros are producing, the tomatoes are doing well, and the cucumbers grew like goddamn wildfire considering the poor soil.
I'mma have veggies soon.  :D

I guess it must be a good year for vegatables. A bunch of farms in our area have donating a fairly large amount of produce weekly. Dairy too, I suppose, since we've been getting tons of sour cream and cottage cheese. And some ice cream.

Our walk-in fridge at work is actually full from it.

It's actually been tricky keeping anything alive, and I lost quite a bit. (My poor, poor jalapenos.. :-\ )

It's been a brutal summer, 100+ in the shade almost every day. Did a number on a few things, myself included.
Already snagged a few tomatoes. -Much- better than anything store-bought.
