       was pretty love/hate as well.
What did you say was love/hate? I just see a blank there.

On a happy note, I haven't listened to music in a lot of time, but I'm listening to it right now. I just remembered how much I love Gojira.

Especially in FFIX, because that one's my favorite.

I quit FFVI halfway through, after I found out that I missed the mog knight  :-\
FF: Tactics, just like Tactics Ogre, got awfully repetitive after a while.
I dunno, I guess I don't mind that sort of repetitive. I maxed out the time in FFT. I also play Disgaea, so go figure.
The way they dealt with character classes also bothered me.

What, that's one thing I loved about Tactics. Geomancers with Samurai's Draw Out as a secondary? Kickass. Knights with Gun Equip breaking gear across the battlefield? Badass. Ramza inevitably turning into a hardcore monk two-punch killing machine? Kickass and badass.

I guess it does get pretty crazy and ridiculous, unless your beef with the handling of character classes lay somewhere else.

I never drink coffee, well maybe once or twice a year when I need to get something done. I never ever drink energy drink, and the last time I had half a can was about 5 years ago, and it kept me up all night.
I have a lot of work to get done in about three days, and I would like it done tonight to be sure. I look at almost a litre of red bull, and know this is going to be fun!

You needed a lot of planning and a good grasp of the mechanics to be successful.
Putting a lot of effort to hybridize classes, just to find out that half their skills will be unusable, is frustraiting. It simply involved too much theorycrafting and soon enough I found myself wasting a lot of time reading guides to figure out the game mechanics.

Don't get me wrong. I usally like complex games.
It's just that I'd like a bit more ingame transparency.

Oh, I see what you mean.

My first run through, I sort of bumbled my way through with silly combinations and whatever looked cool.

It is pretty ridiculous how many numbers there are on the status screen that don't seem to mean anything at all unless you read a guide. I sure wouldn't figure out that Draw Out uses MA, or that Geomancy is a combination of MA and PA, or even that the weapon evasion% specifically only refers to the Weapon Guard reaction ability.

But I still love Tactics. It also probably has some of my favorite music tracks in the series.

What, no, that was not the problem with classes.

 1. Several completely pointless classes, either because of abilities that are simply not strong enough or are gimped for no reason. See: Archer, Geomancer(Only saved by stat growth and secondary abilities), Mediator, Oracle, Thief, Priest and Dancer/Bard.

 2. Stat growth and usage is kinda funky. Samurai Draw Out abilities use your magic attack stat, but you won't know that, so you'll have your guys who spent a long time as monks and knights switch to that and deal little damage with those abilities.

If it wasn't this late at night I would come up with more, but there are enough oddities to know there is a problem.

Edit: Yeah, ingame transparency. A lot of classes don't really work and a lot of them offer insane attack boosts, and there are a lot that cost a lot but are useless. These take a while to get to. Level scaling can also be funky if you don't know that enemies scale to the level of your highest party member, as you'll be assaulted by random encounters that will just kill you because you didn't keep track of your characters that become monks overleveling far beyond the mother members.

Well, if your after the simplified version, FFV will always be there for you. Tactics was brilliant, and I loved the class system that I only ever half understood.
The only reason to get frustrated with it is because your trying to the most effective combos, rather than just something cool that sort of works for what you need it to do. The latter is easy to achieve, and fun to do, the prior is a bitch.

Ugh, yeah, I remember Priests and Oracles being particularly terrible. I remember in my first run, I had an archer through the whole game though, just because I liked the portrait. Did crap for damage, but the game wasn't too difficult anyways, except for those unholy "Protect *" missions.

So I ended up wanting to play some of these again, then I realised I own a working PS1, so I can legally use an emulator.
Not that I gave a shit about illegally using them in the past, but whatever.

I don't think so, but a PS2 emulator may be able to PS1 games.

You own a working one? You should use the PS1. Emulators have glitches that the PS1 does not.

Also, someone decompiled Digimon World 1 and is discovering stuff that nobody knew. There's weird unfinished and sprites and a lot of other stuff. This makes me happy.

PS2s can run PS1 games just fine. I mainly played PS1 games on my first PS2
