I stand by my petulant short-sightedness. Mercury isn't poisonous. You just shouldn't swallow or touch it, or heat it and breathe the fumes. or stand in them. or near them.


And quicksilver sounds THAT MUCH COOLER.

 You can still find Mercury thermometers? Everything I can find in the states not sold at a yard sale is oil and Galinstan and what have you.

Might be due to mercury concerns, although I'm sure more people have probably died from sushi than from breaking thermometers, unless most people that break thermometers do so by placing them in ovens.
