jousting ships.... I call meh. :)

It sounds like fun, and is fun for a while, but actually gets boring really fast.

Go get a copy of staR Control II and dogfight (in melee mode) a bunch of ZotFotPik Stinger craft against a human opponent with the same ship...
I got ur-quan-masters. A remake once the source of the game was released.
I already beat SC2 quite a few times. That game never gets old. But yeah, if you have excellent memory, it does minimize the replayability of the game (Unless you apply certain challenges, or know how to induce short-term amnesia).

With jousting ships; you have to consider, this is in 3D space. Sometimes in the atmosphere, and sometimes in space; and if adapted for aquatic purpose, then under water as well. Each kind of battle is vastly different from one another; wind, gravity, zero-G (or minimal friction), and the occasional scenery object (sometimes exploited for combat; like a asteroid being batted across a battlefield like a baseball). Duels aren't always between the same kind/class of ships, and sometimes teams would fight teams. Orderly chaos is all you'll see. I understand if you'll be tempted to fire a ranged weapon, but in the laws of the battles, that kind of conduct is frowned upon, as the duels are more a sport. By the way, the ranged weapons usually don't last long in battle anyway, and even if they do, Have fun trying to shoot down a spinning blade craft swinging in your direction while dodging it. It sorta looks similar to the Speed Racer movie car melees.

I still want to see a game or flight sim that applies this, at least as an option (maneuverability and hitpoint hardpoints. Similar to DF's health system.)

My wisdom teeth grew out sideways, came out in little chunks.
Hurts little, but the trauma and drugs knock you out for the rest of the day.

Thankfully I'm blessed with naturally strong teeth though, never had a cavity while I barely clean them. Also only once chipped a canine on a nailpolish flask. Even crack nuts with them.

Just lucky in teeth. . . my cross lies elsewhere. :)

+++++

Hmm. Have you ever played Elite 2 : Frontier? It employed realistic physics. the action in ship v. ship combat was like jousting.

I was rolling a die. First roll was a one. I rerolled... a one. I think "Damn it!" and roll it again. It bounces off my cup then rolls toward the end of the desk. I attempt to catch it, but end up hitting it up into the air. It landed on my knee and rolled off and hit the ground. I rolled a six. That made me happy. :)

I am happy that Sof- err, Janet is A-OK and not hurt, even if laptop problems are keeping her from us.

EDIT: Although now that I think about it, they are also keeping us from her; I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

Janet?

I'm confused. I log off for a day and when I come back... substantial changes. :o

Huh.  So Sofia has now officially become Janet.  More schizophrenia I believe.  Heck, sometimes I still want to say Sniper Joe.

Okay, here's something I'm happy about.  Footkerchief has changed his venerable nodding-spaceman avatar (which is sad) to the Thraddash portrait, the manliest biker rhinos in the galaxy (which is awesome).  Welcome to the club Foot, glad to have you.

Wait...

Sniper Joe

Sofia / Janet

GASP

EDIT:

... Hmmm. In retrospect, that actually didn't make that much sense.

That is what you get for staying up to eleven at night.

But yeah, today is feeling different. Like I'm not as lazy. Then again it is 11 in the morning and the rest of the day is there to be lazy.

True. The only reason I'm up so late is that I don't have class until 10 30 AM tomorrow. :D

Janet is her actual name. Not sure why she changed it now, though.

She changed her name AGAIN?

...

Screw that, I'm still gonna call her Sofia, whether she likes it or not.

Haha, yeah, I don't know if it'll last, but I'm enjoying it so far.  This guy has an awesome repository of SC2 gifs.
