It's Livestreaming night! The evening's programming will consist of:
  • Langrisser 2 (Warsong 2):
    The never-released-outside-of-Japan Sega Genesis game, which inspired Battle for Wesnoth. Yay independant translation/localization teams!
  • Amnesia - The Dark Descent:
    The new survival horror game by the creators of Penumbra. It's sorta like a medieval Metal Gear Solid, plus Call of Cthulu.
  • Tales from Earthsea, by Studio Ghibli:
    An animated film based on the stories of Ursula K. LeGuin, made by the folks behind Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. It's about wizards, and stuff.
  • And possibly more!

That was a very enjoyable read, since I'm never going to play Portable Ops.  As someone who actually has an academic background in Cold War nuclear affairs and mercenaries, and a love of hilariously overdeveloped action games, the Metal Gear series is an unending comedy of errors and melodrama for me.  I've been watching LP's for a several days now, and it just never stops being funny.

I don't know when it'll happen next, since my "You're All Kobolds" GURPS campaign is probably kaput; but I'd love to GM a game of some kind, where the players are stupidly overspecialized special-ops soldiers with convoluted angsty backgrounds and obsessed with achieving nebulous political goals through needlessly complicated terrorism.

Getting back to the way I was in the Left 4 Dead preorder days.  Back when I was actually pretty good.  Still can't play Charger for shit, but I've got the Jockey a bit better and I'm passable with Spitter.

I never even try anymore unless I'm indoors or they are both not moving AND facing the wrong way.

I am sick and tired of being a shut-in.
No more, I say!
I blew my chance today, and I have work to do this weekend, but come Monday, I will go with my friends instead of heading straight home.
I have American currency in the form of fabric single units and metal quarter units, which is sufficient for the public transport here.
I can do it.
