I do terrible print, but I don't actually write things very often, I generally type, and I type pretty fast.

The shapes make sense from a writing standpoint but nobody can write those quickly and still have them be legible. They are just too quick and lazy for their own good.
And m's and n's.too, just so we have everything on the table here. And U's, v's and w's.

There was a few year in middle school where the teachers bitched at my inability to write cursive because "You need it for high school"

Then I got to high school and the only thing they bitch about is writing in pen.

Replace "middle school" with "elementary school" and "bitched at" with "bitched at and forced me to practice for untold hours on" and you have my experiance with cursive.

I learned cursive in first grade, then moved to a different school for second and the teachers were like, 'Oh, you already know cursive, you can just sit out and read a book or do homework, or something.'
The topic never came up again.
Ever.

My writing is a handpicked selection of my favorite print and cursive symbols. I basically print, but sometimes my letters connect fluidly as if I were writing in cursive.

My handwriting's gotten a LOT better since high school. I daresay it doesn't look bad, considering I'm male.

STEREOTYPES AHOY

Actually, my handwriting looks like a less crappy Bradley Hand ITC font.

What's great is that in the computer age, the only time we ever use cursive is when we sign our names. Our universities won't accept hand-written assignments, our documents aren't done in writing (nor have they been since the typewriter, really). The only time it ever comes up is during English Proficiency tests, which most native speakers only write once (assuming they pass. I had to do a few of these because I kept moving provinces). Basically, they just wasted our time with a bullshit measure of testing our language ability. I would have preffered if my Grade 2 teacher had taught me about Durkheim or something.

You really should have seen this coming. I continue to be amazed at how many font options there are that almost never get used in the forum.

Was gonna say "In before Edwardian" but, there you go.

As a follow up to my last post, this is somewhat close to my real life handwriting style, except mine is less, erm, bad.

Continuing in the vein of useless education; Text analysis of newspaper articles, et cetera. When is anyone ever going to use that formula to write something. I can see knowing the ways the writer manipulates the reader being helpful, but writing an essay on how? Nope.
