Is it supposed to be a 9 with a circle around it?

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

九丸。
Literally nine-circle.
Funny how similar the two are…

Meanwhile, death is made up of the radicals for death and spoon, and flower is grass, man, and spoon.

What are radicals? Is it another word for characters themselves, or specific strokes or something?

What are radicals? Is it another word for characters themselves, or specific strokes or something?

A radical is a part of kanji (Chinese writing or some Japanese) that is basically a pattern that gives some kind of meaning or connotation to a character, and is included in that character. Often they're just slightly squashed versions of other characters. F'rexample, the Chinese 'good', 'hao3' is the Chinese child character 'zi' next to the chinese woman character, 'nu', using them as radicals to form the character 'hao' (I can't remember the tones on the second and third characters, so I omitted them.) Radicals do not necessarily make up an entire character, but can be supplemented with non-character strokes.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Congratulations on the first job. Those are awesome.

So tone is what the number after the character means, huh? Always wondered about that. So is tone 3 in Chinese flat? Because that's what it is in English. Of course, English isn't a highly tonal language, so it's clausal, not syllabic.
