A death ray for $350?! Where's my credit card!

No, seriously, where the f#@k is my credit card? Lost it somewhere and I can't find it...

(Just kidding, I don't have one)

Lasers don't dissipate over time, but refraction from that atmosphere will probably limit its range, probably make it impossible(with current and near-future technology) for OTS bombardment. A bullet or metal slug, going fast enough(such as during re-entry) could melt, then dissipate. Go with an ion cannon instead.

@Ninja'd by MetalSlimeHunt: No, a laser would probably melt its way through the metal backing of the mirror. Even if it did reflect it, the change in surface caused by the massive heat would just reflect the photons all over the place, not back at the laser weapon itself.

Actually, they do. A PERFECT laser wouldn't, but we can't make that. Note that a perfect laser would also be totally invisible, and therefore boring.

Couldn't you just coat the bullet in ceramic or something? Like I said before. Who needs penetration at those speeds?

Well, at the speed of light, by the time it dissipates, it'll be too far away to even matter, assuming its being used outside the atmosphere.

Assuming air friction doesn't shatter it mid-air? Otherwise, you may well have a basic AP round as-is.

The dissipation he referred to would be caused by atmospheric interference, and would increase as distance traveled increases, not as time passes. So even though it only takes a millisecond, it would still be diffused and dissipated by the atmosphere and stuff to the point where it wouldn't do any real damage.

On the topic of the Archimedes Death Ray, it's possible that they're only redoing it because the government will rent out a laser to them to allow them to 'replicate the results'.

Archimedes Death Ray Laser? That would be more interesting.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

Interesting, yes, but redundant. Why would you reflect lasers when you can just shine them at the specific point anyway?

Maybe you need to shoot around a corner?

"Well, —— me," he said. "A ——ing wizard. I hate ——ing wizards!"
"You shouldn't —— them, then," muttered one of his henchmen, effortlessly pronouncing a row of dashes."

Terry Pratchett is hilarious.

I dunno, you guys have survived Thomas the tank engine, golems, zombies, nuclear explosions, laser whales, and being on the same team as ragnarock.  I don't think something as tame as a world ending rain of lava will even slow you guys down.

My daughter is enjoying the Teen Titans DVD that my wife bought for her. Very appropriate, given her name.
