No... See, Materialists think that matter matters. (Heh)

Nihilists think nothing matters.
I think I want to be an Energyist, then. I shall found the movement!

Wikipedia puts it pretty well:
Quote
In philosophy, the theory of materialism holds that the only thing that exists is matter; that all things are composed of material and all phenomena (including consciousness) are the result of material interactions. In other words, matter is the only substance.

Materialism has nothing to do with "value."  Whatever the hell that's supposed to mean.

That sound oddly like a second grade science class.

It is about as basic a philosophy as one can possibly hold.

Materialism has nothing to do with "value."  Whatever the hell that's supposed to mean.

But, if you say it is like nihilism you are already talking about value.

Nihilism denies value.  Materialism says nothing about value.  To borrow a couple math terms, the former is defined and the latter is undefined.

So then where does
I really think "intrinsic" needs to be removed from that quote for it to be nihilism.  With it, it's just regular old materialism.
Come from? I do not understand what you are trying to say anymore.

Hah, you're right!  I made that quip about the quote and then promptly forgot what the quote actually said.  Nevermind, nothing to see here, just a guy who needs to get some sleep making an ass of himself.  :)

This script scares me, it creates a file with a size of 2(N^2) megabytes compressed to less than a 100th of it's original size. I gave it N=8 (128 megabytes) and it returned a compressed file no bigger than 500kb.
I wonder what'd happen if I let N=32. :-P
