I figured out how to lower the wheels on my lawnmower!

… then fucked the pull cord starter so I can’t actually start it.

Evidently my “leave it alone in the cold and dark” method of maintenance is viable. The lawnmower works now, I guess? Certainly a lot easier to cut the grass since I don’t have to lift it to avoid the motor dying when it gets to the thick bits. A touch more challenging to see what I’ve actually cut, but a small price to pay.

Got an opportunity to try more Squeaky Bean stuff. Memphis BBQ style "chicken".

They continue to blow it out of the park with the texture/flavour. Just wish it was cheaper.

Coming up on 7 years chip.

New job soon. There are some difficulties and a lil worry but good overall.

I'm hopeful they'll one day make a 'chicken' tender that is as dry and stringy as the real thing. i miss chicken sometimes and i want awful tendies about it

Eating soy based vegetarian products is more harmful for the environment (bye bye rainforests make room for soy) than eating chickens, which actually have a pretty low environmental footprint compared to cows, pigs or soy.

Eating soy products to replace chicken is more animal friendly, but not more nature friendly.

Fairly legitimately this. I've had cheap cheese sticks that are pretty close in consistency to cheap nugs, you could probably get it even closer with some concentrated effort and experimentation. Might not need to do much other than bread it, really. Mozzarella sticks are basically chicken nuggets already, when you think about it.

In fairness, most meat just by itself is pretty bland, and most chicken is intentionally raised and processed to avoid the stuff that adds flavor in a critter's diet. You want flavorful chicken you go find one that's been wandering around in a forest or somethin'.

Think fish is usually described as the most intensely flavorful by its lonesome, and, like, that's probably the heavy metals and stuff talking, y'know?

Anyway, my experience with chicken (turkey, similarly) is it's really good at taking on other flavors, so in combination with how cheap it is, it's basically my favorite to cook with. It's just kinda' okay on its own, but if you're eating chicken on its own, you done fucked up. Don't do that, season the hell out of it at a minimum.

Best way I've found to cook it is basically pile on seasonings (you can do a bit better with proper marinades, but my current really-good-with-less-effort roughly in order of amount is [curry powder/paprika/black pepper], [rosemary/basil], dash of [cayenne and brown sugar], wet down with lemon juice) and liquid and cook it down to a glaze with the chicken inside it, then roll it around once it's rendered down until the sauce cooks in. Sooooo good.

What’s your data on that?

I'm curious too. I believe the most land-efficient protein is pork, but I'm happy to be corrected. I think it'd also depend on what you're comparing, a veggie burger, for example, is mostly not soy, but fillers like potato and peas.

Feel free to do your own research I will not accomodate laziness for topics that are so well covered on the internet. Data on it are easy to find. Empowering is better than enabling.
While porc is better than beef, chicken has even less footprint. And indeed, a lot of vegetarian products based off other crops than soy, or on fungi are less harmful for the environment than soy products, but I wasn't comparing to those.
