Guess I'm the weird guy here because I don't like the art style most anime uses.

The generic anime style that is so pervasive is kind of maligned by everyone, including anime fans. It's sprung into existence perhaps due to being the lowest bar of acceptable quality that viewers will put up with, since anime is not just a style but also a cost-cutting technique for animation.

There's lot of interesting art styles around, but again I'm not pushing anyone to watch anime, I only watch a little bit myself on a weekly basis. Just know that even if you refuse to watch anime under any circumstances, the tropes are seeping into other media, slowly but surely. we're coming for you normies. Pretty soon everyone will be sleeping with a dakimakura. You can't hide.

The generic plush ‘moe’ style is like the Western bean mouth style: cheap and way to prevalent nowadays. There are definitely shows out there with unique art style but there are many many other who don’t

You know, since we're on about styles, let me share some of my creations from Waifu Labs. I've made about 90 waifus and husbandos now, I just can't look at the generator without making one or two more, and I think these ones are especially good:

So many beautiful styles of vampire!  Gosh though, it's bizarre how an automated generator can show off the variety in "anime art".

The blog post goes into detail about the Generative Adversarial Network that apparently underpins the creative power of the AI. If the generated pictures weren't plagued by the same mistakes that show up over and over, like the deformed hands or the weird shapes that fill up the background and foreground, I'd accuse it of swiping these pictures straight from Deviantart or somewhere, they're just so consistently good.

One thing I've noticed though, is that the AI is a big fan of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, it simply must be, with how often Dio Brando shows up:

Just had a last minute barbecue for my brother's belated 30th dinner. We were going to go out, but for various reasons my parents didn't organise a restaurant, so instead we did a bbq to take advantage of the weather.

Shish kebabs, chicken marinated in a mix of soy sauce and honey with peppers and onion and some chorizo, a simple salad, hasselback potatoes, a bit of rump steak, sausages, lamb koftas. Carrot, cucumber and flatbread with humus, and halloumi cheese for a starter. Finished up with some desserts, including home made brownies which I was still working on until just before we sat down to eat the main course. So glad I got them finished in time, they were gooey and fudgey and everyone loved them.

Was feeling rushed and was really worried about how long it was taking to prepare some things, and we ate later than I had been planning, but it all turned out great in the end so now I'm just quietly content and tired.
