I thought vertebrae were supposed to be like segments? So that flexibility can happen? I might be thinking of something else

They're also supposed to provide structural support, which tends to win out in priority for a bipedal species.
Makes sense

♪Gonna take on the world someday♫

Positive medical stuff is actually happening for me. At the end of this month, I have 3 vertebra in my neck fused. In early August, I have both sides of my lumbar spinal nerves ablated, so they'll shut up for a while and my legs will stop telling me they're on fire. In late August, I have 3 vertebra between my shoulder blades fused. I have movement on a pending State disability case, finally. I start therapy on Monday for severe untreated PTSD and an anxiety disorder that went undiagnosed until now. Everyone just lul'd and figured I was ADHD like the rest of my family. After I do a full suite of imaging next week, I'm probably going to be referred to an ortho specialist for damage to all the joints in my legs, and therapy for arthritis in everything from my hair down.

To top it all off, my brother and a friend I made on Twitch are teaming up to take me to not one, but TWO metal concerts for my birthday in September! I get to see Unleash the Archers and Judas Fucking Priest with special guest Sabaton.

You guys, I finally get to start healing.

I'm so happy for you!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holy shit, that's awesome! Celebrations all around!

Personally, I got my first shot of Moderna last Tuesday (Norway has been lagging behind significantly due to low vaccine stocks), so I'm very happily stabbed. But shit dude, that sounds absolutely lifechanging!

Paid off my laptop two months early, which is a good feeling.

More significantly on the happy front, my mother got a cockapoo puppy earlier than expected, which we got yesterday and today was my first day puppysitting while everyone else was at work or on a getaway. Went well, but it did wind up taking up most of my day. It's an affectionate little goofball, reminds me of a human baby in a lot of ways. Clumsy, flips between excited and indifferent in moments, loves food, has no attention span, loves physical contact and has no idea what words mean.

We called him Albert, or Bertie which is the version we use more so far, because he looks kind of like an old man already because of his fur colour.

Had the sads today, so I treated myself to some coffee shop and magnet fishing. Pulled up four phat pipes over the course of a few hours and all sorts of little metal scrapnel to go with it.

oh, and some gal said my hair was really pretty as she was leaving the supermarket, so my ego's feeling pretty good and fluffed right now
