4Ks are meant for living rooms that are longer than 100 meters, the required viewing distance to make 4k not look like crap.

Is there any noticeable difference between 1080p and 4K, because the only thing I've noticed is that the higher the definition of the TV the shittyer the movie looks.

It makes HandBrake reencodes (the proper term is "transcode") go from "takes a long time" at 1080p to "I'll be 90 by the time this finishes" at 4K. It's pretty much a quadrupling in time taken to complete going to 4K. Like, 4K is absolute hell to work with unless you have at least 16 cores, preferably on a dedicated rendering machine.

Also, it's big, though my videos only go from ~20 Mbps to ~35 Mbps recording in H.265. Mine are just static shots of the outdoors; imagine if you were actually moving! The bitrate would be bonkers!

Personally, my equipment isn't high-quality enough to see much use with 4K, but I have tried doing that in the past to... mixed results. Wasted an entire day of computer time to HandBrake, I'll tell you that.

Turns out yesterday's added calloway puts enough on my driving music USB to last the whole distance to or from work (not exactly huge, being only about 20 minutes, but still), whee.

After a stint of Mega Depression I am finally at Inbox Zero for all three email accounts and my bills are paid and all of the money sent to me has now been deposited and I am just about fully caught up with 2/3.5 courses. I am current with vaccinations (not COVID sadly). I sent the antiracism in teaching email I needed to send. I have a new pair of eyeglasses on order so I can stop using the broken ones. I no longer owe my psychiatrist money and will be able to get a refill just in time so I don't have to go through SSRI withdrawal.

I still, of course, have various paper letters I'm supposed to respond to, and other similar things (looking at you, Fridge Rot and Gigantic Paper Bag Repository) but is it better? Yes, it is better.

EDIT: this is my favorite. just click for happiness
