Oh heavens I'm having too much fun working on these, keep getting careless and pinching the shit out of a finger or stabbing my thumb with a reamer file, but man...
The top one, in an extreme Smilodon Populator handle--best suited for very large hands--has the folded brass back from the Crown Gents saw I rehandled.
Here's a little Gracilis with a back I folded that best fits smaller hands than mine.
I hurt my damn palm though, was sinking screws into a thick hunk of wood I was using for a metal bending jig and despite drilling out guide holes and countersinks it was still damn near impossible to get the last few turns to sink the heads all the way, ended up with a big fucking blister right across my uh... mind line I think? Top one should be love, then mind below, and life around the thumb?
Makes it kinda annoying trying to take good pictures of these, razzer frazzer...
Nice solid and compact vise means I can reposition it easily for comfort but it never screeches and shrieks like some vises do.
Also that pretty piece of wood with the little shimmery puddle on the sides of the grip? It was a fucking decorative paddle from Michael's, I could see three handles in the main paddle section but none of the visible grain I looked at interested me. Then when we were getting ready to leave I asked the missus what she thought about them and after moving a couple founed one with really interesting swirls on the faces that felt like it weighed damn near twice as much as the other paddles which screams to me "dense and sap-soaked chunk of potentially gorgeous handles" so I bought that one.
Got another Fatalis and a Populator handle from the big face section of the paddle, plus another pair of Fatalis handles and a delicate little Gracilis I made from the thinner knotty pine doors I had been working with, on top of the other half of a steel sheet, three quarters of a brass sheet AND A WHOLE OTHER STEEL SHEET I HAVEN'T EVEN TOUCHED YET!
