Man, getting back in shape is the best, grats! I went from being a wiry bundle of muscle and veins 15 years ago to having love handles peeking out from where my waist used to be like 5 years ago, and only in the last year have I gotten back to feeling like myself again due to all the sawdust and wood chips and increasingly less crappy joints I've produced in this time.

Honestly though the goal has been to get good enough at making things which other people are willing to pay money for, the loss of bodyfat and regaining muscle tone was just a happy side-effect.

Spoiler: I'm now at a point where my problem is needing to set up a materials supply stock and a storefront I think. (click to show/hide)

I used the tools there and about 20 minutes to make the dovetail joint sitting in the vise, bonus being I can probably think about selling some of the custom tools too once I finalize the designs and set up a material supply stock for those.

I particularly enjoy looking at that cleanly chamfered masterfully dovetailed white poplar(I think) dovetail marker sitting on clean dovetails beside a dovetail saw and the bow saw I used to remove the waste before cleaning up the relevant corners with the chisels on the other side and the cute little plane in the background on the right which I used to knock the proud endgrain off of the joints.

Black coffee is great, but moving to a stronger bean and brew can make you reach for the creamer again due to stronger acid levels.

Which is okay, because then you add sweetened condensed milk and make imitation vietnamese coffee.

I made chicken stuffed with tabouli (made with green onions and lemon juice) topped with salsa. Twas delicious!

My mother in law is dead set on feeding us as often as possible. If you help her with like, moving things into the attic, you had better accept food now because otherwise she will sneak into your fridge and leave you meals.

Anyway she left SOME FLIPPIN CHEESECAKE IN THERE and I am going to be a fat piece of crap and eat as much cheesecake as I can tonight It's going to be awesome.

This doesnt sound like mother in law behavior, but grandma behavior. Are you sure she isnt getting you used to unquestioningly eating whatever she puts before you so she can poison you in the future?
Or is she just really old and now lonely?


Today was a nice day for me. Three hour nap and played with the dogs for a while. No work for a change.

You could poison me with cheesecake. Like, openly. I will eat that cheesecake and deal with the consequences later.

But no she really likes me, I never had that in-law hate problem that some people seem to have. I cook for her anytime I can, she has a habit of cooking/acquiring way more leftovers than she can eat and likes giving them to us.

She likes my sauteed sesame green beans the most, which is just some butter, salt/pepper, and a lil' dab of toasted sesame oil sprinkled with sesame seeds. I like it when she dumps like 12 pieces of fried chicken in my fridge because she helped out at the church dinner and they had too much.

That must be nice. My parents-in-law don’t like me, but recently something was done that means I don’t feel guilty about refusing to go see them unless it’s a special occasion, so I get time to myself when my wife is guilted into seeing them.
