Two days or so's absence is barely evidence that he's left, and you have no reason to believe that he's gone because people argued with him a lot. And if his behavior wasn't bad enough for Toady to ban him outright, you shouldn't be celebrating scaring someone off the forum, anyway.
But really, I'd assume that people posting walls of quotes at him just makes him happy and more motivated to argue back. And I have experience with goblins.)

Valve recently expanded the ability to add personal content filters to the steam store (presumably in response to the deluge of anime pornography). One thing they let you do is filter out user-added tags, and for my part I couldn't be happier, being able to finally filter out trash like this:

Still, in typical Valve fashion things still get through all over the place. The "special offers" adbox immediately below just puts a tiny gray bar over the images, and there's a glaring "trending among friends" slider below that doesn't seem to have any filter at all. Better than nothing, but disappointing.

He derailed every second suggestion thread with large and often hypocritical walls of text that basically nobody agreed with. Disruptive. He got on the receiving end of a dogpile in each of these threads. He's straddling the bannable-not bannable line. The most recent thread he touched got locked by it's creator.

KittyTac, this is not a good forum for vendettas.  We play nice here, we speak with respect, because the Sword of Damocles hangs over us.  Over time, it actually became natural...  We fight each others ideas, readily, but dare not attack each other. 

Especially after Nov 2016, which led to many bans as tempers flared.  Several people in the aftermath too, including my friend Neonivek.

Attack ideas, not people.  With every argument, think:  Might this convince someone?  Even if it's a longshot, it's okay - but pure spite is not okay.  No matter how much you despise the other poster.  Try to remember their humanity - and more than that, that they chose this space, Bay12.

Look. I'm not dumb. I (And many others) have tried to convince GC by pointing out his argument's flaws. GC just ignored these posts in his quote-walls, because accepting them would mean the downfall of his argument. If that's not arguing in bad faith, I don't know what is. He even said that backing out of arguments is not his style.

I've been here a long time, and I was very hateful to certain people.  I will never stop regretting it, and I'm glad I was polite enough to remain here.

I pointed out the flaws. He ignored my posts and continued to derail. Dogpiling is the only way to argue with GC.

And if you look in his "Show Posts" page, you will usually find at least one "I'm smart and you're all stupid" post per page. How's that for good faith?

First you post a rather unkind, pointed Happy about another forumite in the Happy Thread of all places, and now you're arguing the point when people tell you that's not on?

At the best of times, schadenfreude isn't really allowed in here, and it is generally frowned upon to speak ill of the recently banned, let alone current members.
This isn't some unknown meatspace person with unfashionable taste in computer games, this is a Bay12er. Good grief.

It's about making a convincing argument for others to see.

Don't be a combatant.  Be an orator.  A speaker.

Put your argument into the common space and let it stand for itself.  It will only be overwhelmed by many people at once - then, maybe, change tactics.
Don't lower yourself to fight a single person.  You both fall.

I cannot do that when GC derails all threads that have people expressing conflicting opinions.

Well you can circumvent him then by keeping responses short. That forces him to work harder than you to keep it up. The whole point of trolling is that they make you work harder than they are. By keeping things brief at to the point you're not falling into the trap.

Well you can circumvent him then by keeping responses short. That forces him to work harder than you to keep it up. The whole point of trolling is that they make you work harder than they are. By keeping things brief at to the point you're not falling into the trap.
