If I'm walking on tiled surfaces I generally follow one of two rules.  If its large like sidewalk segments, the rule is no cracks and both feet touch the each segment the same number of times. 

Yeah, I used to do this sort of thing and more religiously whenever I walked anywhere... thankfully I've gotten a lot better at not letting my ocd control my life like that, but I still do a lot of minor things, sometimes without realising... and of course, a discovery like that tile in my kitchen causes me a great deal of giddy excitement.


In other, slightly-less-weird Happy news, I thought I was completely out of clean underpants (and I know I am badly overdue for a shower) and would have to either wash some and wait for them to dry before bathing, or simply put dirty underpants back on after a shower... or, perhaps worse still, go even longer without a shower.
But then, I found a perfectly good, clean pair in a suitcase! Hooray!

Now I can hypothetically have a quick shower, get dressed and go do productive stuff with the rest of my day, such as completing the one pressing item on my to-do list.
...Yeah it's a nice thought. At least I will probably get around to showering at some point.

For me it was getting from one spot on my kitchen floor to another using only knight's jumps.

If the tiles are small and I'm bored, the rule is to move like a knight from chess.

The feeling of 'You're not alone' hits me like something really hard now.

I used to have sooo much fun walking through tiled malls or school floors.  "Don't step on a crack" was the start, but then stuff got mathy...  I went for patterns more than spots, but I totally get that Yoink!

...I still do sequential math when walking anywhere tiled or designed with countable patterns.
...I also feel like that helped my chess skills in hindsight.

Ooh I'm not the only one that does this! I actually had to force myself to stop because I would start to count thing obsessively. I always felt more satisfied when something came out as a multiple of 10, although there were other nice numbers. Unfortunately sometimes it got in the way of actually getting stuff done.

It's actually a good thing I've read stuff on psychology in that area and it denotes a connection in a way between that sort of mindset and analytical planning/creativity.

...I still find myself compartmentalizing things in sets of 5 when I see a series of things, and grouping them in many ways.
It's fun.

And it's also muchfun to see others similarly doing it.

Just put on a pair of longjohn-type underpants that I've had lying around for the first time and they are almost obscenely comfortable.
I expected them to be basically the same as thermal leggings, but they aren't. Wow these are nice. The only downside is that the tight ankle cuffs (presumably so that you can wear other garments over the top without them riding up) led to me accidentally whacking myself in the unmentionables whilst putting them on... ouch.

But that brief pain was quickly forgotten amongst all this ongoing comfort.
