Hatedoms are obnoxious.  Like a thing or ignore it, don't spend so much time enjoying hating it.  Even with stuff like the Avatar live action movie there's a difference between watching it ironically once and building a whole community around hating it.

But it was just so ridiculous that I felt insulted watching it. Unobtanium? Really?
And that's the tip of the iceberg.

I hate Avatar because I at age 14 had to sit one foot away from my father while watching an extended and semi-explicit alien furry sex scene. I have never been more uncomfortable before or since.

...I was not talking about that movie.  That movie had some positive qualities.

You meant Last Airbender. Oh. Yeah, that one was a bit worse.

I can't remember why there was so much hype surrounding that movie pre-release again. It was almost a complete nil in cultural impact.

Something massive budget something something motion capture.
Certainly not for the story; who cares about that? :P

Because it was incredibly beautiful.  Also because it was an original sci fi offering from the guy behind Terminator and Aliens*.  James Cameron helped advertise the movie by playing up the world and the technology used in filmmaking.  I remember hearing before the film about how James Cameron had people make an entirely new kind of 3D camera and an entirely new language for the film which was his passion project.

Of course, it was a forgettable mishmash of stereotypes and stock plotlines.   I honestly could not tell you, right now, a single line of dialogue from the movie.  The visuals are great but they remain the same throughout the entire movie and thus fail to complement the storytelling.  All locations, even the human spaceships, have the common threads of blue green and grey.  Pretty similar shades too.  Compare to say Prometheus, a movie which I personally didn't like, yet there's still a clear visual delineation of

all of which have different color schemes and different atmosphere.

*shrug* I like CinemaSins.  Conversely, while I´ve not watched CinemaWins... it doesnt sound too appealing.

Me too. I watched CinemaWins once, but if I'm going to be honest it vibed me way too much of the "geek defends the thing he likes because he can't handle people not liking the thing he likes" kind. I'm nerdy enough to have filled a lifetime quota of that kind of awkwardness many years ago.

That's a nice picture.

Makes me think, though. Why do catgirls have their ears on the top of their heads? Are they functional or his decorative? Do they have human ears too where their ears should be? Maybe just seal-like ear holes?

Do the cat ears not push the head band down?
Thank you! Unless you mean the one I didn't draw, in which case: yes I love it and I love that you like it!

I had that same thought too when I was drawing, which is why I went with the long hair. If I did another one, I'd make the ears sitting more on the sides of the head so there isn't a creepy blank patch of skin where the human ears were.

I'm not sure what you mean and curious what you were trying to get across.

They're all good pictures, brent. But yes I was referring to the other one ;)

I'm not sure what you are referring to that you're not sure I mean though.

The music of the crystalline spheres is made apparent. Ptolemy weeps at the beauty; Copernicus sighs for the truth.

Reminds me of this old drawing toy I had as a child, called Spirograph. It was made of plastig cogwheels with holes in them to fit a pencil or pen through, and you could make nice drawings like the venus - earth thing with relative ease.
