Caroll’s Original answer was “corrected for spelling and changed “Nevar” to “never:” (So Cracked got that right).
 
“Because it can produce a few notes, tho they are very flat; and it is NEVAR put with the wrong end in front.”

They were half right about "Why is a Raven like a writing desk?" It's even more clever than they realized. Yes, Lewis Carol's original answer's "nevar" was changed to "never."

1.) Yes, cracked pointed out "NEVAR" is "RAVEN backwards.... "put with the wrong end in front."

2) I immediately looked at that and thought: Latin.... Carol would have known Latin from education and going to freaking Oxford....

The second part Cracked.com missed is that it is latin. “Nevar” is a form of the latin word “navus” meaning diligent or busy, or industrious….
( Note: Nevar is the first-person singular present passive subjunctive of navo conjugated as a verb...)
