Instead of spending Singles Awareness Day moping about, I'm gonna go bowling with the family
It doesn't usually bother me much, but this time I was visiting my DND group (in person!!) and attending a gaming convention! We basically spent the weekend borrowing board games from a HUGE pile and playing them.
We even had a 5 player Magic game (despite 2 of them having never played). Each of us chose a color, and sat around the table in the arrangement of the elements. Each person was allied with the people sitting next to them. So as Green, I was allied with White and Red. But Red kept attacking White (and Blue).
I lost to Black (our DM, who always plays a necromancer). But it was close, and it was fun! I got to play all the elves, satyrs and centaurs~
We actually spent about half of both days just wandering Raleigh, taking in the sights downtown and finding neat places to eat. There's this pizza place next to the convention center which has the coolest thing: A series of digital-display beer taps where you pour exactly as much as you want, and it builds your tab. It was basically a super convenient sampler system! We tried so many weird ones... This one beer was 95 on the bitterness scale (IBU?) which was a bit much even for me!
Edit: Oh and we made a ton of progress on my brother's SSBB, with the help of two of our friends. Only two people can play at a time, but taking turns helps a ton because everyone knows different characters! It was a lot easier than just my brother and I playing, and it was also a laugh riot.
Sure the roads are covered in ice now, and I need to fix my insurance before I can drive, so I'm technically stuck in my dreaded hometown. But I don't *feel* stuck. I feel... Loved (:
I still need to leave soon because inevitably I'll start getting anxious and panicking. But I have a couple days I think, and this was definitely the best Valentine's weekend I've ever had.
