Which means we need more data. Get on it, Putnam.

Is it time for us to start creepily stalking Putnam yet?

If the strategy guide came from an official source and spoiler everything ever, people would buy them.
They do, and they do.
The last strategy guide I bought was for Homeworld, and I only bought it because the writers treated it as a comedy platform for cracking jokes about the game.

I liked reading strategy guides when I couldn't actually be playing.  I even enjoyed reading the Caesar 2 manual when bored.

@Cinder
I've been patiently waiting for Putnam to be wrong about something for like a year, if that counts.

I read the strategy guide of Pokemon Emerald for light reading. Only use I had from it was capturing the legendaries.

I wore out my Kingdom Hearts 2 guide by reading it over and over to look at how they had a name for every single attack of every single enemy in the game.

One of my favorite strategy guides when I was younger was for Turok 2, of all things. Each enemy was given backstory and a description of how they operated. The weapons had similar levels of detail given to them, as did the various levels.

I was never one much for strategy guides, but I found the manuals for the hand-me-down NES games I got when I was a wee one positively enchanting; it was the first console I ever had, so "game manuals" weren't exactly something I was familiar with. I can't imagine how many times I flipped through the SMB3 manual, memorizing the enemies' names and attacks, and I took the backstory of Metroid to heart (and was thereby caught off guard by Samus' surprise gender reveal when I looked up an internet guide.)

I think the first strategy guide I got was a huge-ass official guide for Pokemon Emerald, which I definately have kicking around somewhere, and I have an equally ass-huge and equally official guide for Diamond/Pearl(which I am not so sure about).  Also for some reason I have around 3 different manuals for WoW of all things, one of them the original manual, another Burning Crusade, and then Wrath of the Lich King.

The original WoW manual is pretty nifty, since it's neat seeing what's changed throughout the centuries years.

I had one for Gran Turismo 3. Had a crapload of neat car trivia, was pretty good.

Also one for Kingdom Hearts. They clearly hadn't played Final Fantasy VII, because they couldn't tell that Sephiroth was using Heartless Angel and said that he was saying "sin harvest" (what's actually going on is Lance Bass being real quiet with his voiced vocalizations, so it ended up sounding like "deSCEND HEARTLESS angel")

these were both prima

prima also said Meta Knight was meh, 6/10, the same as Ganondorf, the undisputed worst character in the game

George Newbern's acting in KH2 was hilariously better, and apparently disney was bothered by the "sin harvest" thing since in KH2 he says "DESCEND. HEARTLESS. ANGEL." with each word enunciated extremely clearly

I had a stratguide for Fallout 3, for a while. Gave it away to my brother. If I could've traded it for a guide to say, Oblivion, I would've.

Somehow, through some miracle, I've gone from being single to being in a relationship with a really, really nice guy. It took a few days to actually click, but all of a sudden I'm feeling 'OH MY GOD I'M IN A RELATIONSHIP EEEEEEEEEEE'  :D

sohappy~

also since I feel like I'm kinda interrupting the flow of conversation; I've never actually had a strategy guide for any game. I don't know why, I just never had a need for them.
