S'plenty of online games being ran, if all you want is to go up against a human instead of a computer.

I'd rather play with people I at least sort of know than randoms, was what I was getting at.

We had a Bay12 online chess thread going on a while ago, it might still be around somewhere.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I woke up at 2:00 AM here and I am feeling oddly happy about it. I mean, I'll probably get grumpy later because BLEGH MONDAYS but at least I can enjoy this now.

Well I got dealt one of, if not THE most OP nation in our Nationgen Dominions 4 game. So my username is awesome in every way possible :P

Also this means I MIGHT have a chance to win the first Dominions game I've played multiplayer, which is a big plus.

I saw a mouse being eaten today. I like that cat - it's been doing wonders for the pigeon population around here as well.

Forgot how entertaining it is to watch competitive starcraft 2 matches. This shit is more entertaining than the typical tv sport.
To each their own, but I agree with you.  Thanks for the reminder, actually.
I've been thinking of watching DoTA2 or LoL, but what little I've seen is too overwhelming.  Starcraft2 makes sense to watch even though I haven't played it.
For extra geekiness, Youtube "40k battle report" (miniwargaming).  They heavily edit the videos, but keep all (most?) of the rolls and the interesting discussion.  It's certainly much slower paced than RTS esports, but kinda neat background TV.

Edit: Oh, and similarly, there's always TwitchPlaysPokemon which is now Pokemon Battle Arena with betting and voting and such.  Fun to throw some bets at, with pretend money you get for showing up.
I would recommend TF2 as a good fledgeling esport, but I play TF2 and am interested in the competitive scene and even I can't tell what's going on in Highlander games :P (6v6 is easier to understand, though.)

I played my old GBA SP again for the first time in years. Boy, that was a nostalgia trip. That thing saved me from boredom on car rides more times than I can remember. The first games console I ever owned, and it still works perfectly (although there's some annoying dust under the screen).

Nintendo consoles have a reputation for being near indestructible. There was a Gameboy that was in a military barracks that was bombed during the Gulf War. It still works.

They had to replace the screen, but yeah. Working condition.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

I saw a cooper's hawk take a chipmunk out of a tree yesterday.

Also saw Mad Max.  Wasn't expecting much but it's everything a Mad Max movie should be.

Up to... wassat, Heretic Purging.
I like the idea that the 40k IG army has 'flamer specialists' and 'melee specialists'.
Now I know why only 1 guardsman in every squad is allowed to use special weapons - it'd be a pain to get them all certified.

Funny I hadn't thought of that before.
