Artist dude draws self-portraits whilst fucked up on 30 different DRUGGGSSSSSSS.

It's kind of a clickbait-y article, but who cares it's amazing.
Puh. "A small glass of real absinthe" has about the same effect on the human nervous system as "a small glass of real whiskey", "a small glass of real vodka", "a small glass of real brandy" or "a small glass of any other hard alcohol".

And the effect is "fuck-all". Unless you're Native American or Paleoasiatic.

That's not surprising, considering the self-portrait the guy drew while under the effects.

Someone who hadn't seen Mad Max said to me that it was basically a movie-long cari-chase.
I don't think they realized how awesome that sounds.

He said "a small glass", not a shot glass. That's pretty vague, who knows how much was actually involved.
Seeing as I've never had real absinthe, I shan't question the rest of your post.

I was somewhat perturbed to see "snorting heroin" as one of the captions. I mean... come on. Isn't that generally a bad idea?
Apparently the guy eventually stopped this particular series of self-portraits due to the lethargy and brain damage caused by all these drugs.
I'm not sure what time span the portraits were made over, but that's still not terribly surprising.

Considering Pulp Fiction made it a plot point... Yes. An even worse idea than intravenous use, actually, as the risk of an overdose is massively higher.

Eh, about the same actually. Both have a fairly instantaneous effect, and require only comparatively little substance. Contrary to popular belief overdoses don't usually happen because of measuring errors; they mostly occur when a junkie gets dope that's more pure than usual, i.e. has less sugar and other useless shit (like powdered bricks, I kid you not) mixed in.
Of course there's also new users getting the dose wrong, but I'd wager that snorting is more dangerous in that regard since people generally are hella careful about what they shove into their veins. Except for Russians, apparently, but that pretty much was to be expected.

Nope. "real" absinthe is the nerve toxin that was banned, not the alcoholic drink now called "absinthe". That's basically not the same thing at all, it's just green alcohol, whereas the original concoction contained some pretty potent halucinogenic compounds...

Quote
BERKELEY -- Long suspected to have contributed to psychoses, fits and hallucinations in such famous artists and writers as van Gogh, Poe and Baudelaire, the liqueur absinthe they cherished contained a potent toxin that UC Berkeley scientists now say causes neurons to seriously malfunction.
