The History Channel has become to history what Popular Mechanics is to science. In fact, it's gotten so I can't watch TV. Even Food Network is turning to crap. Every other show is some kind of reality TV-style competition. That's what happens when you subject supposedly "academic" channels to the pressure of a ratings-based marketplace.

Almost everything on TV now is either a competition of some kind, crazy paranormal crap, crazy conspiracy crap, or features bewbs. In that vein, I'd like to debut my new pitch for a show: 10 teams of contestants will race around the world looking for the Lost Tribes of Israel, while being pursued a shadowy cabal of bikini-clad ninja supermodels.
