I've just checked the devlog for the first time since the last update, and the musical forms generated are pretty cool. They would sound WAY weird to us, since they can be microtonal and have very irregular rhythms, but that's par the course for DF.

Yeah, I'll probably start playing it again this summer. I kind of quit a while back, and haven't picked it up much since...part of the problem is that I get bored with forts easily. But I'm seeing more long-term stuff in the devlog, stuff that can keep a fort fresh for years.

I get discouraged that a few simple things still aren't possible.  Like, telling dwarves to brew forever...  And actually having them brew forever.  There's no reason for the job manager to cap at 30.  I guess everyone who cares about that uses DFHack or whatever.

But if bugs turned you off from the last major release, it's probably better to play the current release before a bunch of new stuff is introduced.

I guess I'm not getting fired after all, and the "messed up hands" situation seems to be under control. Seems warm-hot water was causing more damage to my hand than the chemicals were, oddly enough. So long as I keep the water in the sinks cool, I think it will be fine. Still trying not to think about my future too much, but I get to hang onto my part-time fast food job. Yay.
