Does mandatory happiness make you happy?

I am happy today because I got some computator time to screw around. It was good.

I dunno is a college algebra class and high school pre calc equivalent to a college math course? (Yes both at the same time)
High school teachers and the high school teaching environment is a lot different from the college environment. Teachers can be more forgiving and can have a more lenient grading system, they can be more familiar with teaching and explaining to students, etc. Even if it's the same material, the experience can differ.

In comparison, my precal professor was a complete newbie at teaching in college, was poor at explaining, and spoke with a thick asian accent that made listening and understanding her difficult, and she made her tests hard. Also I'm pretty sure the college class went over material I never even heard of in my high school precal class.

You see Ivan, by having the happies, you also are of the makings of the comrades to have the happies. Is good system, yeah?

Oh that stinks

Well I'll be taking a college credit calculus course my senior year of highschool. Same teacher as my DC algebra and she is not lenient at all. Though she is an amazing teacher.

My precalc teacher however is not good at all and even relies on online videos for some of her lessons even though she knows everything there is to know about the materials
I can't learn from her, not well

Trust me, I've experience with this scenario.
Not a fun mental state you end up in.
To be fair that was because the character I was RPing was a sadistic sociopathic bastard, but still.

Though, uh. The latter bits can go either way. Most of the college teachers I've had had considerably more leeway in grading and whatnot than the area high school teachers do, and the general environment on the college campuses have been both more focused and way, way more chill. Lot more people there because they want to be, doing things because they want to do them, and just kinda' overall being healthier and happier people (which is vaguely damning statement considering how many of them were some variation of intoxicated and/or sleep deprived). The high schools I've interacted with have mostly been a bit of a mess, comparatively.

Interactions I've had with colleges and universities so far have been pretty unilaterally positive, at least on the actual education and atmosphere side of things. Somewhat less so re: bureaucracy and pricing, but the rest of it has been pretty nice. S'just somethin' kinda' cheerful about college towns and academia...

Why do all these IF-type games make me want to bawl into a pillow? First it was Always Sometimes Monsters, and then Choice of Robots? It didn't help that my robot was basically a surgical equivalent of Baymax.

"I'll miss you, Sensei."
I'll miss you too, Miku.

-snip-

I was mostly thinking of my precal class when I was writing that, Frumple. My opinion of said class atmosphere was biased because the professor was making the class hard for everyone (mostly unintentionally) and by the end of the semester it had the atmosphere of a horror-survival story or something. Everyone was questioning if they'd pass or fail, the final was painful, etc.

All the other classes I've taken have been much more lenient and enjoyable than my high school classes. Likewise, the professors were all cool. Even my precal professor was a nice person, she was just bad at explaining. By the end of the semester she could see we were all having trouble and she was willing to provide extra opportunities to improve our grades.
