Metal is abolished currently.
They use a weird resin called 'Finecast', which they did a full roll-over onto using instead of metal.

They're also pushing towards large armies and large vehicles in games now- probably also as a "Money Get" mechanism.
But that all depends on whether you want to be competitive, or just have fun.

Obviously the answer is to just 3-D print all of your own miniatures. It takes forever to get good looking print files unless you can dig up what you want on the interwebs (and even then your models don't look quite as good unless you have a really expensive 3d printer), but after that it is much, much cheaper in the long run.

In Soviet Twitch, you don't play pokemon.  Pokemon plays you.

IG are a Swarm army, so lots of units = lots of $$.
But their tanks are some of the strongest in the game.

Tyranids just had their latest codex released, and it's full of poison (Poison is good).
But similar, swarm or go home.

Spehss Mehreens are incredibly popular- so popular that certain factions like space wolves or grey knights or dark angels or blood angels have their own codecs And mass-produced models.

Eldar are interesting.


Really it comes down to which Lore you like best.

I didn't get as much done as I would've liked but a solid bit of writing and editing has happened today, plus some work emails, and then I coughed up some stuff and my throat doesn't hurt nearly as badly as it did.
